LanTec Systems presents the new WLAN access point L-54 dual Wireless at CeBIT 2006 in Germany. The product is being designed and manufactured in Germany by LANCOM Systems with exclusiv distrubution rights to South America by LanTec Systems, Paraguay. The dual-band access point is a new development featuring two wireless modules and two Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) enabled LAN ports. The wireless modules support all 54-Mbit wireless standards (IEEE 802.11a/h and IEEE 802.11b/g). Gross data rates of up to 108 Mbps per module can be achieved with Super A/G. The four dual-band diversity antenna connectors can be used to connect any of the AirLancer Extender range of antennas, opening up many new possibilities for combining WLAN networks. This makes the LANCOM L-54 dual Wireless the ideal WLAN access point for establishing business WLAN networks which are ready for the future. It simplifies the move from 2.4 GHz (IEEE 802.11b/g) to 5 GHz (IEEE 802.11a/h). Both WLAN networks can be operated in parallel. This makes it possible to operate the 2.4 GHz bandwidth for local coverage, for example. The 5-GHz band could then be used to establish a wireless backbone, whereby multiple access points are networked without the need of LAN cabling. If one radio channel is interrupted on a point-to-point connection, the second module can take over. Operations within a LAN network also benefit from higher reliability as the dual, and thus redundant, PoE power supply is implemented over the two integrated LAN connectors.
Furthermore, the device is equipped with a full IP router. Along with the stateful-inspection firewall with Intrusion Detection and Denial-of-Service protection, the highlights of the LANCOM L-54 dual Wireless include IP Quality of Service (VOIP-ready), traffic shaping and maximized WLAN security as it supports all protective mechanisms including WPA2/802.11i, 802.1x, LEPS, and rogue AP detection.
The LANCOM L-54 dual Wireless provides first-class investment security and a large bandwidth of applications—just about the full spectrum of possibilities is covered, from basic installations to complex networking. With the aid of the LANCOM Management Tool, the LANCOM L-54 dual Wireless is simple and convenient to configure and manage.
Optimal accessories for the LANCOM-L-54 dual Wireless are the AirLancer Extender antennas. These make use of the four antenna connectors to guarantee optimal data transfer even in the most awkward office spaces or reflective factory environments.
